Visa, Mastercard and the history of credit card
Credit card is a form of electronic payment. It is a plastic card that may or may not contain a chip and displays in front of the wearer's name, card number and expiration date (at least) and on the back, a customer's signature to field, the security number (CVV2 ) and the magnetic stripe (usually black). Most credit cards have standardized form and size, as specified by the ISO standard 7810.
The credit card can be used as means of payment to purchase a good or a service contract. The holder receives each month at the address the invoice for payment and can choose to pay the total charged, only the minimum or some intermediate value, delaying the rest of the payment for the next month by charging interest.
All credit card account has a purchasing limit set by the issuing bank. The purchases made reduce the available limit until when insufficient, new purchases are denied. Payment of invoice frees the limit to be used again.
